What is this business honestly worth?
Understand the factors that influence value before a transition forces the question.
The Handoff™
A confidential, independent way to understand what your photography business may be worth, who could carry it forward, and how you can step away without watching everything you built fall apart.
Every owner eventually leaves
If you stopped running picture day tomorrow, would the clients stay? Would the employees know what to do? Could someone else run the company without you?
Understand the factors that influence value before a transition forces the question.
Explore whether a family member, key employee, manager, or buyer could carry the company forward.
Protect the employees, clients, relationships, and name you spent decades building.
The four lenses
The Handoff uses the same four-lens methodology to reveal the complete story of the company.... not just a score.
01
What would a potential buyer notice in the first hour?
Revenue, seasonality, client concentration, financial quality, and how involved you are in daily operations.
02
What has never been documented or counted?
Unwritten agreements, client relationships in your head, untracked equipment, and employees who may leave when you do.
03
Where does the company look strong but remain fragile?
One major account, one lead photographer, one busy season, or one owner holding everything together.
04
What valuable part of the company is being overlooked?
Recurring accounts, technology, brand recognition, operational systems, and revenue opportunities not fully developed.
Four possible doors
The right path depends on your goals, family, employees, and the business you have built.
Transfer the company internally and protect its legacy over time.
Explore a cleaner transition to a regional competitor or consolidator.
Keep ownership while building a team that can operate without you.
Close intentionally while protecting employees, clients, and relationships.
The goal is not to push you toward a sale. It is to help you choose your next chapter deliberately.
How The Handoff works
Phase 1
A live readiness assessment reveals owner dependency, hidden risks, value levers, and the factors shaping your options.
Phase 2
Compare the four exit paths and create a clear map for your timeline, needs, and desired outcome.
Phase 3
Reduce owner dependency, document what matters, and prepare the company for a successor or buyer.
Why Scott Proposki
For 27 years, I worked inside the photography industry and built and operated a national photography company with a team of 50.
I understand picture days, seasonal revenue, large accounts, photographers, labs, equipment, delivery systems, and the hundreds of details an owner quietly carries.
I also closed my own company without the exit plan I should have created. That experience is why I built The Handoff.
My job is to help make sure an unplanned exit does not happen to you.
